What is a socket weld flange?
Socket weld flange(SW flange) is similar to the slip on flange(SO flange),but it has a block in the inner bore(which name is socket) to accept pipe or fitting,fillet welding is done from outside on the pipe.And the socket thickness is common same with the pipe thickness.Socket weld flanges are used specially for small sizes and high pressure piping systems.
