Mill Test Certificate EN 10204 2.1, 3.1, 3.2

The Mill Test Certificate (MTC) or Mill Test Report (MTR) shall be issued by the manufacturer to demonstrate the chemical and mechanical properties of the product and its compliance with the applicable standards and technical specifications. Mill certificates usually comply with EN 10204 and relate to steel products. Certification of rolled steel plates in Europe is generally in accordance with EN 10204. The actual certificate depends on the label offered but is either 3.1 or 3.2. 3.1 or 3.2 MTC means that the plate or heat actually sold has been tested and the plate is accompanied by a Mill Test Certificate (MTC).
The mill test certificate according to EN 10204 shall, as a general rule, contain the following information:
Manufacturer’s name
Product name and dimensions
Quantity covered by the certificate (e.g. tonnes with heat numbers)
Heat numbers and batch number (also shown on product)
Final test result
Dimensions to check compliance with tolerances (e.g. for steel pipes: diameter, wall thickness, length, straightness)
Class of material and applicable specifications including results of chemical and mechanical tests
Results of additional tests, such as hydrostatic, ultrasonic (UT), hardness, impact test, magnetic particles, metalgraphic results, etc.
EN 10204 2.1 Certification
EN 10204 2.1 certification is the lowest level of certification in EN 10204. This simply confirms that the manufacturer or mill has produced the steel plates according to the buyer’s specification or order requirements. The certificate shall not contain evidence in the form of test results. It is also acceptable for the person responsible for production to issue a certificate.EN 10204 3.1 Certification
3.1 is a certificate issued by a factory stating that the plates comply with the specification and contain the test results.
The test results are validated by the factory’s in-house testing department, which must be independent of the production department.
EN 10204 3.2 Certification

EN 10204 3.2 Certification is stricter, and the certificate is jointly prepared by factory inspection department and independent third party inspectors such as SGS, BV, ASBS. The certificate indicates that the plates comply with the relevant specifications and a mill test certificate is attached.
